TOURING AND
NEW CREATIONS
— Dance is ancient at Röda Sten Konsthall
In 2016, we premiered Dance is Ancient at Röda Sten Konsthall in Göteborg, in collaboration with Skogen. Since then, we have toured it every year and serendipity is bringing the performance back to where it was created on January 17, for its 10th anniversary.
— Two new creations: Dans (Sverige) - solo version + Dans (Sverige) - group version
These two new works, conceived as the two sides of the same coin, are looking back at the 35 works Frédéric Gies has created since they moved to Sweden and excavate an unexpected relationship with a piece by Les Ballets Suédois from 1920. The solo version will premiere at Weld in Stockholm in April, before going to Malmö and Göteborg. The group version will premiere at the end of September at Dansens Hus in Stockholm and continue to Inkonst in Malmö. More info soon.
— Six solos at Weld
Between April 9 and April 12, Weld will present six solos by Frédéric Gies, which have not been shown there before: Shadowboxing (2022), Tribute – solo version (2020), Tribute to Kurt Jooss’ Green Table (2025), Walk+Talk (2017), Deflecting Misfortune and Averting the Evil Eye (2024) and Dans (Sverige) – solo version (Premiere). More info soon.

Exhibition:
Frédéric Gies and Maison de Fous

Running from December 4, 2026 to April 11, 2027, Frédéric Gies and Maison de Fous is an exhibition at Moderna Museet Malmö, curated by Albin Hillervik and Jari Malta.
“Frédéric Gies is a French choreographer and dancer based in Malmö who has been active in the European performance scene for the past three decades. Their practice draws from classical ballet, contemporary dance history and rave culture, blending gestures seemingly foreign to one another.
Maison de Fous departs from the kinship between the eponymous 1920 piece by Les Ballets Suédois and Gies’ choreographic work. Including works from Moderna Museet’s collection, the exhibition embraces le fou to create an expressionistic universe, characterized by a soft subversiveness and tender ecstasy. Throughout the exhibition period, the Turbine Hall will be transformed into a rehearsal space and a stage for continuous activation by Gies as well as local and international dancers.”
Looking forward to seeing you on these occasions!
