HOME #2

In 2021, the choreographer Frédéric Gies and the artist Christian Falsnaes were commissioned to collaborate and create together with the dancers of Corpus a new work called Home #2. They were asked to present their own interpretation of Home as a theme.

From Corpus programme: After a long lockdown, our homes have taken on a new meaning and for most of us it has been a safe space and a prison at the same time. In Corpus Episodes we want to explore the significance of the home in an artistic context. What constitutes a home? What makes a space a home? Is it the roof over one’s head, the photo albums, the people we surround ourselves with? How are these questions and thoughts transferred to dance and choreography and what is the role of the audience in the final performance?

“The performance is a social event that places the audiences in small intimate groups straight opposite of one another, in groups of four, while the dancers dance around them. The dance is a decoration surrounding the audience.” says artist , Christian Falsnaes.

Choreographer, Frédéric Gies describes the role of dance in this performance as: “The dance is ornamental and is working with patterns. The dance does not occupy the center but the periphery and is conceived as an embroidery”.
